Dino Esposito Design Master class: FAIL
The lovely people from the company I work for sent me to the.NET Design Master class with Dino Esposito in Zaventem (close to Brussels) and I was very disappointed.
The first two days were a reiteration of basic principles that are very well known with the world of OO programming. I do not believe that explaining us that the use of patterns is good and a few principles and practices that have been around for decade old and does not really match what would be expected in a “master” class. From my point of view this two days could be easily be summarize in a 2 hours lecture without much problem. On top of that he addressed some of the principles wrong (I can recall the Liskov substitution principle as an example).
The third and fourth day focused on the Domain design and the DAL (Data Access Layer), which although had some interesting points, it did not add much knowledge to what I think the people of the audience already knew.
The last day was a complete waste of time expended in talking about AJAX and a few web technologies as if they were the new best thing after sliced bread when are not that new at all. He spent some time talking about .Net MVC but I suspect that the reason for that is the fact that Esposito is writing a book about it, and even then, he did not get into too much detail.
Overall I would not recommend the training to any person that has some basic design!!
